Hello,
My name is Alicia Lovas. I have been working as an RMT for 10 years. My massage style is a combination of therapeutic and relaxation. I want clients to really decompress on the table so I use a combination of slow release techniques, which are great for stubborn muscles. Outside of work, I am a new mother and I enjoy a verity of outdoor activities like hiking, trail running and camping. I am also a book worm and look forward to hearing all your book recommendations in the treatment room!
Hi, my name is Makenzie.
After flying to Maui in 2017 to become a certified Yoga instructor I came home and began my journey to study Massage Therapy and continued my interest in helping people. I eagerly got involved with practitioners who I consider mentors and for the curious mind I have, this was the best thing I could do for my practice and future clients.
One could describe my practice as therapeutic but what does that mean? Well, I personalise each treatment, using resources, continuous education and a listening ear to really make sure my clients know that treatment is truly about their goals and wellbeing for their homeostasis. Some of the techniques I like to marry with swedish techniques are low level craniosacral, fascia connection, breathing techniques and stretching. I believe a big part of massage therapy is to connect with humans with peace in mind, whether that means laughing, sleeping, or maybe feeling a little uncomfortable to get comfortable to achieve a relaxed state.
My main concern for my clients is for us to develop a trusting relationship. I don’t make complicated stories for my clients, I simply provide them a space to get out of the rat race and encourage them to have a deeper connection with their body.
If I am not talking about or providing a massage I am either planning or eating a delicious meal with loved ones, taking my Bijon Shitzu out on the kayak with me, playing fetch or walking trails with my younger mutt, dancing like nobody's watching (because they probably shouldn’t) or booking a trip for my husband and I.
Jennifer is an experienced RMT, working full time as a massage therapist since February 2014. She graduated from Alberta College of Massage Therapy’s 2200hr program in July 2015.
It is Jennifer’s belief that before we can achieve any relief and physical improvement, people must feel safe, comfortable and relaxed, and she is deeply driven to provide a safe space for *all humans* and their bodies.
Jennifer has several **additional modalities**, which are incorporated into her treatments as, and where, needed:
>John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Level 1, Unwinding + Fascial Pelvis
>Dynamic Cupping Massage
>Pre/Post-Natal Massage Certification**
>Hot/Cold Stone Therapy
Jennifer has amassed a variety of experience over the years, and she is excited to settle into this next chapter of her career, while looking forward to learning so much more, growing as a therapist and most importantly, helping clients in a collaborative manner here at Progressive Physiotherapy

Melissa was born and raised in Grande Prairie, and now raising her children in the area.
Melissa graduated as an RMT in 2004, after which she bought a clinic downtown GP and continued expanding her knowledge in a variety of modalities in the alternative medicine industry.
While taking a step back to raise her children, Melissa taught massage therapy at a local school for a few years. Being an athlete and coach for the majority of her life, it was a natural progression to get certified in Nutrition, specifically women’s health and sports nutrition.
Melissa has been studying German New Medicine for the past year.
German New Medicine (GNM) is the study of how unexpected emotional distressing events (both big and small) cause physical adaptations in the body, which you feel as symptoms. Underlying stressful traumatic events could be the reason why you will only get temporary relief from some treatments or perhaps why you’re stuck in a pain cycle. GNM understands and looks for how to identify the root cause of your symptoms. It goes down a layer deeper to what is truly causing the symptoms and helps you to process through the traumatic event. This enables your body to finish the healing process and go back to normal stronger/more equipped to handle a similar stressful event.
Through discussion, Melissa will help you to understand and release the emotional stress responsible for the onset of your symptoms (pain). This method can help guide you more effectively through the healing process of releasing unconscious emotional baggage, resulting in your body healing from the inside out, and leaving your mind at ease. You can live pain free!
When she’s not running her three beautiful children around, Melissa enjoys physical activities, being outdoors, hiking, gardening, studying alternative medicine and tea with friends.
Melissa Rogan is currently offering GNM sessions for pain symptoms at Progressive Physiotherapy.
